About Mykal Kumasi Jones

The life, legacy and history of Mykal Jones (AKA "Kumasi.") is interesting, inspiring and enlightening. Known by most people in Antigua as Kumasi, he is one of the original members of "Wadadli Experience," the first Reggae Band from Antigua, in the Caribbean.

The sight, sounds and music of Mykal Kumasi live on stage, is like nothing you've ever seen. He is a rare and sophisticated performing artist who transmits an energy that cannot be captured on tape, pressed into wax or burned onto disk.

For an artist, not of Jamaican roots, Mykal has successfully demonstrated his artistic superiority, independence, and musical brilliance. His latest album called "Wadadli Music", is an exhibition of musical skills that puts him in a league by himself.

Mykal is a trend setter and rare talent in the performing arts and music industry of Antigua.  Growing up in an environment of Caribbean Steel Bands, Brass Bands, Soka and Calypso music, he was influenced by a number of legendary artists, singers, and musicians from an early age.

Before joining "Wadadli Experience Band", he was a member of the original "Ebonites Steel Band." While playing with Wadadli Experience, he was also a member of the prestigious "Harmonites Steel Orchestra", where he gained much fame, respect and recognition.

After wining the title of "Panorama Champions" with Harmonites Steel Orchestra in 1975, he eventually left the pan arena and began directing, composing, and arranging music for "Wadadli Experience Band".

Unless you are one of the few that orbit his world, you may not know it. Mykal is an eccentric musical artist endowed with an abundance of talent and energy that goes way beyond his musical skills.

This multi-talented character is not just a singer and musician.  He is also a webmaster, songwriter, producer, music arranger and player of several instruments.
